Student Apprenticeships
Our clinic would not exist without our students! They are an integral part of how we run our birth center and why we are able to offer services to low-income and underserved communities that typically have no options for midwifery care. Our students receive both home birth and birth center experiences, and our higher volume allows students to obtain their clinical numbers at a higher rate than in traditional home birth practices. We value and respect our students, and our model allows for students to work, tend to their domestic lives, and learn good self-care while also gaining experiences as a midwife in training. Students must be seeking a CPM certification and be enrolled in a MEAC-accredited midwifery school, although PEP applicants are also welcome to apply. A High School diploma, CPR/BLS, and NRP Certifications are required as a prerequisite for apprenticeship. Students in our program are required to attend one clinic day per week and be on-call for births between 37-42 weeks gestation for their assigned clients.
